How to Sew a Rolled Hem

Sewing a rolled hem can add a beautiful edge to your hem, pocket, ruffled edge, and so much more.

The rolled hem is a really fun and easy method that will save you time finishing your projects.  So, happy sewing, and post in the comments some of the projects you have used the rolled hem method!

What You Will Need:

-Sewing Machine

-Fabric or Garment You Are Working On (It’s always a good idea to practice new techniques on scrap fabric before applying it to a project so you can work all the kinks out and get used to it)

-Rolled hem Foot

Rolled Hem Foot P55607 – Singer – $11.99

Singer rolled hem foot is perfect for hems too small to sew by hand. For Singer low shank snap on sewing machines. Part number P55607.

Step 1

Fold the edge over 1/8″ and then 1/8″ to make a tiny jelly roll of fabric and place under your presser foot and needle.

Step 2

Place the roll of pinned fabric under your presser foot to get it started. Bring the needle down to hold your fabric in place.

Step 3

Fold the edge of the fabric 1/4″ over as you are sewing and the foot will do the rest to roll the hem.

Step 4
